Hi Folks,
This is my dressing for a woven bug.
Hook - Eagle Claw sz 10 (any strong curved hook will do)
Thread - White 8/0 Uni
Underbody - Lead Wire
Body - Olive Coloured Darning Thread
Rib 1 - Fine gold wire
Rib 2 - 3lb mono
Shell Back - Mossy Oak Nymph Skin
Thorax - Dyed Brown Hares Mask
Brown Permanent Marker
Mount Hook in the vice and run up a layer of lead wire...
Cover the lead with thread and start the taper of the body, trying to keep it a slim as possible...
At the bend of the hook, catch in the body, both ribs, and shellback. Bind down and whip finish at the eye...
Start the weave, I use a 1.5mm crochet needle....
Work up towards the eye and re-attach the tying thread and tie off the body material...
Run the fine gold rib up the body and then dub on a thin rope of hare fur and form a very slim thorax...
Bring up the nymph skin and form the shell back, bind it down at the eye and then run the mono rib up making sure to follow the segmentation that was formed by the weave...
Colour the the thorax area with the brown marker and then the head...
... varnish the thorax area and the head and this is the finished bug.
all the best

Then changed flies again and were ready to repeat
The next try was poor because you rushed the cast
You hold your breath in solemn anticipation
You must be a fly fisherman!
