Default Easy to tie bugs

This is a wee pattern i tied using the green tag theme i put in a lot of my flies, nice and simple but effective.

Thread a size 12 grubber
Click the image to open in full size.

Add medium oval gold wire
Click the image to open in full size.

Tie in fluorescent wool
Click the image to open in full size.

Add dubbing of your choice
Click the image to open in full size.

Bring wire up in close turns to form body and give dubbing 2 or 3 rib turns trim tag/ whip finish and there you go

You can add different materials to thorax area, chenille ones also work. As you see easy to tie and good when nothing showing on the surface.

but the fish in the bottom two pics are caught on a different fly with a fluoro bead ??????????? or am i seeing things

Tut tut bruce....i did mention chenille works too,you could add a bead if you wish.I have a pic of 4 showing dif colours and the chenille one

These remind me of the Sibbons or Cockwill stalking bugs of the 1980's. Very nice & straightforward.

geordie,not having a dig mate ,its just when someone puts up pics with flies and say they work for me ,and of that i dont doubt ,but what you expect to see is fish caught on the flies pictured , hey you could do a feature in trout fisherman

Could be right steve, i think we have loads of ideas in our heads we have gathered over the years, this one just came to mind when i was looking for something when im not catching on the surface these days.Using wire gets them down quickly and we could use copper,lead or whats available aswell. Nice and simple to tie and works well, just put SBS up to show that.

Just found those pics quicker than others i suppose, as you say nice to add pics to show what you mean

I know your not having a dig....just here to share m8.....need to be doing something to keep me busy.

Not sure on that point, broonies tend to be harder to predict they will take nearly anything some days but not on regular basis.I would say if you replaced the tag for hackle fibers then broonies may hit them more.
