Default Tying a Wet Mafly

Not sure this will be easy to follow as i think you need 3 hands to show what your doing, taking pics of certain parts impossible on your own. Anyway ive been asked by a couple of forum members to do one, so a bit of walking from table to window and using bigger hackles in this one to highlight it, maybe should have used bigger hook too but here it is anyway.

Tie in oval gold wire.

Tail of your choice/ i used brown/black cock pheasant breast feather.

Then add dubbing/ i used olive.

Then tie in yellow hackle.

Palmer hackle back through dubbing catch waste bit with wire and rib body.
Click the image to open in full size.

Trim waste wire and add red hackle.
Click the image to open in full size.

Give 3 turns and prepare french partridge/ i use 2.
Click the image to open in full size.

Tie first one against red hackle like this/ tip first.
Click the image to open in full size.

Trim waste bit and keep thread where the hackle will be wound to like this.
Click the image to open in full size.

When i strip the partridge hackle as i am doing these i aim to get 3 turns only from them/ when winding them on always stroke the fibers back to help them face backwards.
Click the image to open in full size.

Trim waste bit and add second partridge hackle.
Click the image to open in full size.

As i said b4 i always aim to get 3 turns of partridge when i prepare them and always stroke them back to aid facing backwards.
Click the image to open in full size.

I pull the stalk piece back with hackle and tie it down with 3 to 4 turns of thread and then whip finish and give the white stalk a quick pull to break it off/ then pull the hackles evenly up and down to give the finished result.
Click the image to open in full size.

Feel likes ive walked miles going back and forth from table to window for pics, hope this is of some help not easy to get right pics on your own.

Geordie.

Not up to your usual stansard Geordie now I want 300 hundred lines saying "Must send 3 dozen of these to Derek ASAP"

Seriously though, great SBS matey, very clear. Well done
