Then add tail fibers/ i used honey cock hackles.

Take thread back to thorax area and tie in foam with 3 loose turns.

Then tie down foam with more turns of thread/ not too tight then back to rear of hook and add dubbing/ i use olive.

Then bring your dubbing up and around foam/ pull foam back and give a couple of turns in front.

Then bring your rib up and tie off in front of foam.

Trim rib and add hackle at front of foam / i used natural red game.

What does the gold fish in the background think about it?

Thanks GBT - off out to get some foam, unless someone can suggest somewhere obvious around the home to source it from (no suggestions for cutting up the sofa though please)!

Followed the above SBS as closely as possible but did a bit of extra trimming of the foam as it is not the best stuff (you can see by the picture) and it looked a bit weird with square edges. Also, had no lighter material for tail (well I do but didn't want to go to other materials that didn't seem quite right, so just stuck with a few bigger strands as for the hackle - don't know if it will make any difference at all?

It is no bull that this is what came out first time (well actually the only time, as only done this one and given up for tonight while the going is good).

Quite pleased with it, even if I do say so myself, as I'm a relative beginner - that's a size 14, will knock out another tomorrow at that size and then go smaller.

Perfect for my spot I reckon, they will be used in action when the time is right!

Oh it will catch, no problem - maybe not for a while but when the time comes it will be deadly. Yep, suggestions that the tail is too long go out the window when you look at the real thing.
