Default Foam Suspender Buzzer

Just thought i would put the SBS of this pattern up as i showed it on other thread.Grew up fishing rivers with pops but now spend more time on still waters these days using a floating line and mainly surface work( dont do the buzzer thing)....but do some of these and the snail thing. So doing the snails i did this pattern on the threading the the foam idea.
Only had square foam so had to cut it to shape as you will see, but you could use circular stuff they use in booby eyes.

Take piece of foam and thread nylon through, i used 8lb fluorocarbon.

Melt ends with lighter, glue 3mil round the melted bit and pull into foam.

Then tie it on hook like this/ size 12 grubber.

Tie in fine silver wire for rib.

Then bring tying thread in close turns to thorax area/ rib with wire and tie in gold tinsel at thorax area.

Build up a small bump thorax with thread and catch gold tinsel with 3 turns of thread.

Trim gold tinsel pull back foam and whip finish under/ job done.

As i said i only had square foam so had to trim it to shape then 2 coats of varnish.

Keeps it nice and slim and works very well.

Tight lines ,

Geordie.

Ps...if your eyesight is poor stick your name on one of these.

That's a nice pattern. I put a lot of faith in suspenders when fishing early season buzzer hatches on me local put and take. Not as much as me old man though - he'll happily fish one or a pair all season given any sign of fish in the top 30 feet of water!!

Nice idea witht he foam. Have to admit, I just tie mine in like a thorax cover with a tag end hanging off the front. Might give your version a go.....

Aye was just wanting some skinny ones and this idea suits, did other ones using foam as good thorax area though.

I like them. I'll try your method for the foam. Have you tried extending the length of the nylon/fluo so that the buzzer is hanging just below the surface??

.

Yes i tied 4 like that 4yrs ago and my dad took them, i had forgotten about them till i showed him these ones. They were not skinny ones like these though, they were olive seals fur body ribbed with green rubber leg stuff for blood worms and orange thread head, worked quite well by his accounts.

These are probably my first suspender buzzers i tied a few years back when i was a lure fishing man for the bows and only had lure hooks....caught some fish on these i can tell you....rainbows used to chase them when stripped in fast too.
