Default CDC Midge

CDC Midge

Hook Size 18 – 22
Fine black multi strand thread
1 Black CDC
1 White CDC

This very simple fly has caught me many fish on rivers and still waters this year. Just cast it out and leave it. Also try them in white on right day these work well also. The white wing really makes the fly stand out even at distance. Hope this is OK as it' my first post.

1. Catch the thread in at the eye and wind to the bend of the hook.

I like the foam pad trick.

I have had success with a similar fly tied with a seals fur body; I like yours better though - more buggy looking.

Thanks

Steve

Very Nice step by step Alyn. A simple but deadly fly, well done.

Very nice tying, and does really look the part. The photo of the underside of the fly is really quite lifelike looking, little wonder it fools fish. It could easily be adopted for many other flies as well.

Thanks for sharing it with us.

Default CDC Tools

The CDC tools were bought from a French company that displays at most fly fishing and game fairs. For the two clamps and the attachment that bends the CDC, the cost was £10.
The good thing about the foam is the shape; because of the triangle shape you can use even the small CDC feathers unlike other tools for the job on the market. This is the web site of the company.

Use Babel Fish to translate the site into english

http://babelfish.altavista.com

Easy to use just set it up to translate from French to English and browse.

I do like the look of the superglue and varnish bottles that fit to the foam block.
