Here's some photographic step by step instructions for tying the Tiny Miracle Nymph. It's a very basic buzzer pattern but the black version is my highest fish taking buzzer this year on stillwaters, Size 18 tied on a Kamasan B405.



Hook - B175 size 16 or B405 size 18, 20
Thread - Black, Red, claret or Olive
Body - Thread as above
Rib - Fine Silver Wire (Size 27)
Bead - 2mm or smaller
Thorax - Dyed Peacock Herl to match thread colour.

How the fish can even see these little guys - i'll never know - but these flies do work miracles!

An alternative to the peacock herl that I also like is to use a bunch of short cdc fibres - inserted into split thread and then wrapped on. I then trim them to about 2-3 hoook eye lengths. Not sure if the fish think that the cdc fibres are emerging legs or what, but it drives 'em crazy.

I've starting to use micro UV straggle for the thorax late this year and the results are very promising. Won't know how they fully compare to the peacock herl versions until next year.

I'll try some of the CDC ones you describe , they sound interesting.

How do you fish them?

Under a bung? NZ style?

I have been successful fishing tiny flees on a floating line and letting them drift round in the wind keeping contact with the flies, I suppose you could fish them under an indicator, I have not tried it, maybe other members have had success using other methods to fish these tiny flees.

I tied some similar on a size 18 - which is as small as L can see. They look very similar in profile but had pheasant tail bodies and ginger seal fur collars and were very good with grayling last autumn.

The only problem was a lot of drop-offs and I think that the tungsten bead closes the hook gape down a bit on these small hooks, reducing their hooking effectiveness.

Has anyone else found this?
