Default Winged March Brown

Dave, that is absolutely beautiful. A stunning step by step and an extremely nice finished pattern.

I am sure that pattern could just do so much more than imitate a March Brown on a river. It has to be suggestive of so many trout food forms.

Must be one of the nicest step by steps yet. Thank you.

I totally agree. It's a lovely fly to fish with - effective as a#14 for fishing rivers as an ascending nymph. Can be fished downstream well too. A #12 is a good fly on reservoirs- such a pleasure to fish wet flies.

Also this can be a great sea-trout fly whe fished in the streamy, faster water: just as the light starts to fade.

Cheers,

Hi Dave,
Nice fly,the step by step definitely make things easier for a novice.
Is the wing partridge? or something else.
Thanks for sharing it.

It certainly is partridge. One of the good things about this pattern is it all comes from one bird. I would very much recommend buying a full English Partridge skin - lots of useful feathers,

All the best,
Dave.

HI Dave,
Great step by step on th march brown.
ITs 1 of my favorite fly,s along with the silver march brown,
ive been tying for a few years but have always had trouble with the wing.
I,ll have to get more practise in, i normally use hen pheasant for the wing
i will be useing partridge next.

Nice work.... lovely proportions. Looks just 'right'... as SBS flies should.

Hen pheasant works nicely too. I just like taking all the feathers from one bird. Thanks for the comments.
