Firefoil Buzzer
This is a pattern I tied up initially for visiting moorbrook in orange and red in size 12 and 16's. I call it the Firefoil but im sure there is another name for it. It has worked well for me this year, the size 16 at Moorbrook and the size 12 red at Tildarg, Murloc and Woodford.
Hook - Kamasan B100 Size 12+16
Body - Black UTC 70 Thread
Rib - Silver Tinsel
Head -Red, FL. Charteuse, Fl. Fire Orange UTC 70 Thread
1. Tie your thread onto the hook to create a body down to the bend in the hook.
2 Tie in a strip of silver tinsel and secure with a few wraps of thread and trim the excess.
3. Wrap the tinsel up the body in close even turns to form a rib. This doesnt have to be neat but it helps. Secure at the eye of the hook with a few turns of thread and trim the excess.
4. Whip finish and swap over for the coloured thread in preperation for the head of the buzzer.
5. Form a thread base with the thread, red in this case.
6. Form a head on the buzzer, I find a medium sized head better. Whip finish and apply 2 coats of Sally Henson Hard as Nails.
Some other variations include an Orange head
and a Lime green head
