Default The Mckay

A bit of old school most will know this pattern introduced to the competition circuit by Clive Collier the Mckay has all the right things to make it a very effective fly. It has movement and a number of trigger points that the trout love. This deviates slightly from the original tying by Clive as I did not have all the right materials. I have also used red thread where I believe Clive used brown on his highly rated pattern. Anyway have a gander it might be worth having a few of these in your box.

Thanks, really enjoyed. I am a big fan of an all black Mckay on the brown trout lakes down here in Devon.

I never knew that Jim had won the national, but I am not surprised a quality angler.

Yep. 1996-97.I've never seen so many fags smoked, nor anyone shake as much as Jim did as they were announcing the top 22 anglers.
True to form, Jim give his winning team of flies to his boat partner in said national final, and his boat partner almost turned Jim over

Still got the Mckay he gave me.
