the body is a bit to fat for my liking. instead of tying you wing post on top of the shank of the hook, create a u shape with the post and tye it from underneath wrapping it round the shank. this will give you a much slimmer body.
here is my version of the same fly

Lovely fly, not dissimilar to one I posted a little while back I use the same method as you for tying in the wing post, as you say, it gives a nice slim tie in point.

Yep, I like the way it pushes the hackle up away from the body so the fly rides lower in the film Also think its neater because I get less stray hackle fibres. Was glad when I found a method of tying para hackles that I got on with because I struggled with them for a while before landing on a method that worked for me.

Just out of interest, how do you finish off beneath the hackle? I used to use a loop of thread to draw the tag back through as I could not manage with my fingers too well, nor with a whip finish tool (which I never really use). Any top tips on that or should I just be getting some practice in?

Andy
