Those that have immersed themselves in the dyeing aspects of this fly-tying/fishing lark will already be familiar with the various "Brand" name dye makers/suppliers so I will omit them for now and add a few other sources to list...others can add to it as/if the thread progresses.I don't always have the dosh to get the "brand" names and waiting for the mail orders from on-line shops too time consuming
'ere's the first "alternate"... cheap as chips at the local " $ " store
( or the other " tormentors' " bingo basket

) (her hair products are OFF LIMITS
A few dabs onto a piece of paper towel or similar will give a close approximation of what the intended colour will be ....
The second alternate source is just as easily available from any friends / sisters etc. that may work in any "clerical" job.....or misplaced in yer own pocket before leaving an office
These highliters are a good source for some various shades not readily available from "brands"
I start by removing the nib/tip
then extract the inner sleeve/ core containing the bulk of the ink/dye
These are added to the requisite amount of water dependent on amt. of material used
I will be dyeing some "salt water rabbit"

as dubbing
Squeeze the sleeve to get the dye out or cut the plastic coating and remove the complete wadding
maintain an even heat setting on y'er "hotplate/ cooker
Will post remainder later this eve .....life happens
Hoping the rest of this goes in the proper sequential order
After the determined length of the bath ...remove the said material/s and strain into a sieve/ collendar and rinse with cold water ... place into a DIY
container...
squeeze excess water from dubbing
attach drying sieve to floor-joist with push pin and allow to dry
Some of the end results.....
Others are welcome, encouraged even, to add their own ingredients to this soup
Still stickin'.......Avalon/Andrew
