Well done Simmo. I am a big fan of very small, heavy nymphs for Wherwell, caught plenty of big fish on size 20 GRHE's

Regards
Peter

Size 22!

I'd need binoculars to tie the bl00dy thing on!

I've just been tying up a few size 16s bugs and shrimps for my January Dee trip and they seem minuscule to me.

Cheers!

Graham

Nice video Simmo, very nice. I have been tying similar down to size 18 and had success at Wherwell.....will try a 20 now but a bit tiny for my fingers......

You were lucky if you had a good day at Wherwell on 29th. Was there the day before.....quite crowded, with many beginners. Nothing wrong with beginners, we've all been there, but several seemed to have no water manners.....such as the 2 who walked up the bank past the pool I was fishing, then stopped and started pointing the fish out to each other. Had to ask them to get out of fishes sight and takes then disappeared for a while. Then the bloke who dropped into the water about 50 yards up from where I was fishing, he could see I was working upstream. I tend to be quite polite but had to say something.
Did try to help one bloke who stood on the bank, casting up, across and down for about 30 minutes, because he had a fish first cast there. Advised him that the fish were now 50 yards away. Saw that he moved, and again caught

Anyway, always enjoy the day there. Hope to get back over next week or so when probably less busy and fish may have had a rest from being thrashed.

Peter

Nice one simmo. I have more difficulty putting the bead on the hook than doing the tying on very small hooks.

Peter,

I had an excellent day on the 29th, the fishery was busy but there is plenty of water to go at. The anglers there on the day were very polite and courteous and I was fortunate not to have to move very often to find fish. I had my best ever Grayling in this country at just shy of 53cm on the same day I had 2 over 40 and 3 over 35 and 45 Grayling in total. For size wise I think this was my best day anywhere. I have found that the smaller fish are not fairing so well this year and I think that that is down to low water and many of the small fish have been taken by predetors. Still lots of Grayling in the river, I hope to get another few days out before the Loch Style fishing opens.

Wobbly,

I know exactly what you mean, I do have a little trick that might help, i will put it in my next video.

Regards

Lindsay

Lindsay, now I know that there's a 53cm fish in there somewhere, will certainly return, probably next week. My best yet there is 43cm. Certainly a good number of large fish around.
