Just a quick note....

Please do NOT use Stainless Saltwater hooks for Pike. If, for some reason, you and your fly part company whilst playing a fish, the hook will not corrode;leaving the Pike with a piercing for life but also more succeptible to infection.

Thanks.

I would argue that one. If you are using barbless hooks the Pike will rid itself of the fly.

If you use hooks that "rust", it will take months and months for them to rust, then it will leave a rusty point in the flesh of the fish which is NOT good at all.

I would use either type, but always barbless then there is no problem, but having spent just over 20 years Pike fly fishing i can honestly say i have never left a hook in a fish..so don't see it as a problem with barbless hooks.

Great reply I didn't reply to the stainless hook comment beacause I to have been fishing for pike for the lat 15 years and never has the hook been left in the mouth of the pike. Also I always go barbless with adequate leader material for the situation. Those flies were tied for a fellow that fishes for pike in salt water in the UK.
