That's interesting. I've never seen chenille used as a rib before. I would imagine it slips/moves about quite easily on a body of tinsel. Do you have to use a coat of varnish or glue over the tinsel to hold the chenille in place.

Thank you Jocelyn; a real treat.

A little 'history'; from the other thread yesterday:

A friend of a friend took one of 31 lb from Little Jonathan Pool on Middle Camp's water; loosing a 40 - 50 pounder hooked in Morency Pool.
All on a #6 Ruelland Special.

It is said that Leo wished he'd never devised the pattern, so deadly had it become.
Perhaps a reason it's not widely available.

I've certainly never seen one; and it's hard to imagine from the dressing list alone.

PiB
I've seen one now.

Well worth the wait

Gander

I though the same thing when i read the original fly recipe

If the cheniile is wrapped thight it seems to hold fine

Just a odd way of tying a fly that has proven itself with atlantic salmon

I have a different variations of this fly that I will post this coming week

Its called the Ruelland dragon
