Default Peeping caddis Step by Step

The tying of the fly is as follows.

Hook size . 12 long shank.
Body . Rough dubbing rope preferably hares fur .
Head . White or cream dubbing
Rib . Silver wire .
Hackle. Black hen hackle


Step one . Wind on some lead wire at the bottom half of the hook shank.
Step two. Secure the Lead wire with the tying silk .
Step three . Tie in a strand of dubbing loop.
Step four . Wind up the dubbing loop over the lead and tie off .
Step five . Tie in a strand of white or cream floss and a strand of silver wire.
Step six . Wind the floss up and down to create the head .
Step seven . Wind up the silver wire three to four turns.
Step eight . Tie in a good Quality hen hackle.
Step nine . Wind the hackle two turns and tie off whip finish and varnish.

Very nice mate, should work a treat, tied mine a few months back useng deerhair but think your's looks very effective.

I would use a lot of different matterials for the body I just think that the dubbing rope gives it a bit more bulk

Nice. You can also use a peacock quill for the head although your idea is easier. Since this represents the caddis nymph half insided it's, "shell", of twigs and pebbles I've used it for sight nymphing where I bump it along the bottom. Works really well on barbel and greyling according to a French fisherman I spoke to.

Yes the fly works very well on most rivers that I have fished yet to try this pattern on the loughs
