Default duns with soft tails

this is my type of fly for grayling from river San ( Poland )

Hook: Daiichi D910 #16
Thread: UTC olive
Body: UTC olive thread
Tail:beige CDC barbs
Wing: beige CDC - one feather

Wow,

Has to be proportionally very accurate I bet. Slightly too much body or too thick a hook gauge....I can imagine a few trials with a dish in front of me first.

Lucian, nice fly .....can see it floating too long though, even allowing for your brilliant CDC!

The truth is that I use this fly when fishing very close, not more than 5 m, with long leaders: 4.5 m. But usually after the first fish it doesn't float as well as the first time.Still, I noticed that the grayling likes it like this.
Once, there was very bad weather, 5 dgr C, rain and rain with ice and didn't see it properly on the water, so I changed it and used a similar pattern but with a little more CDC.

From that moment on, I caught only trout like in the picture:

Maybe it was an exception, but in general I noticed that grayling prefer flies tied sparse

These flies work well on rising Rainbow's as well
