Here is my first Step by Step
of a simple floating fry pattern that i came up with.


Hook: 2x longshank nymph #8
Thread: White
Body: Foam(cut foam a bit longer than hook length and as a wedge) and Sparkleflash holo-uv silver tube
Laterial line: Red Holo(small)
Eyes: Orvis mirage eyes 1/8"
Pens: gold,silver metalic and also colours of your choice(optional)

Run the tying thread down to the bend of the hook and catch in the narrow end of foam.Bring thread back to eye and coat thread with varnish.

Wrap foam in touching turns up the hook towards the eye, creating a fish shape, .Secure with a couple of turns of thread at the eye and now in loose turns down the hook to the bend and back again(usually 4 turns each way is suffice)as tightly as you feel merits the bulk of fry you want.
Using the metalic pens colour the foam silver on top and gold on bottom.

Now whip finish the thread a couple of time to hold in place.
Now we are ready for the silver tube.Cut a length that is roughly 1 1/2 times the hook length and slide down the hook making sure that there will be enough for the fish tail.Secure at eye with a couple of turns and run the thread in loose turns down the hook and add a few turns at the tail and back again and whip finish.(again 4 turns each way is suffice)

Whip finish and trim off the end at the eye as neatly as possable and with your fingers adjust the shape of the fry if need be.
Colour the fry in the colours of your preferrence,here i have used a dark green on top and a lighter yellow green underneath)
Now we are ready to apply a coat of varnish.
The varnish i have chosen is a clear one with tiny flecks of silver glitter that adds considerably to a scale effect and also helps seal the fry.Leave to dry overnight if possable.

Once dry we then add the laterial line using a strip of small red holo superglued to each side.
Then we superglue the eyes in position.
Once dry coat the fry in at least 3 coats of hard as nails(making sure that each coat is dry before we add another) and trim the tail to length.

I am sure that you will agree that this looks a tasty morsel for any trout
Let's hope that this does the trick with the fry bashers when the season gets underway
