Hi,
being new on the forum i thought this time of the year ideal to offer you all a little present. I came up with this "fly" a couple of years ago when fiddling around with a newly discovered product : liquid latex. Some purists might say it's a disgrace fishing with foam and latex, but it certainly gave me some memorable moments! Hope you'll like it,too...
I start by doubling a sheet of 2 mm foam (the stuff you find between clothing and electrical equipment) and glueing it with superglue. Cut out a body and a head the size you want.
Put the body (round side up) on a needle, pushing through a ribbing thread.
Rib the body and colour it with indelible markers
Apply a coating of latex with a dubbing needle and let it dry briefly
Shape the partially dry body in the banana form and fix it on the hook (in this case a Kamasan B100 n°12)
Knot some legs and start binding them in beginning at the rear end...
Notice the legs are practically tied in at the same place. Trim them where necessary. Fix the head (round side up) with the binding thread between the middle and front legs and pass the binding thread in front without crushing the legs to make the final knot. Secure with a drop of glue and fix the head to the abdomen by glueing the wingcase to it (press on it with your dubbing needle for a few seconds)
Colour the head and the eyes, glue some antenna on and fix the whole lot with a layer of latex, making sure you fill up the joints between the head and the abdomen as well.
After drying you're left with a deadly fly for any fish that likes a good meal, you know of one that doesn't?
Have fun with it!
