Default Whisky and Ginger Wulff

A nice little dry-fly pattern here that's fairly easy to tie.

Whisky and ginger wulff

Hook - dry fly size 12 -16
Thread - Brown 8/0
Hackle - Brown cock hackle and a furnace cock hackle
Wings - Tips of two golden olive or ginger cock hackles
Tail - Fibres from golden olive or ginger cock hackle
Rib - Gold wire .005 OD

Prepare hackle tips for the wings and secure to hook in fairly upright position.

Select tail fibres and tie in along with gold wire.

Take thread back up to behind wings then wind wire rib up to thread and secure.

Select hackles (about one and a half times the hook gape) tie in brown cock hackle and furnace hackle just behind wings (both together).

Wind hackles with hackle pliers both hackles together, two turns behind wings and 2 to 3 turns in front then secure hackle and whip finish.

Another variation useing rusty brown dubbing instead of wire rib over the body.

Happy tying

Mark

Nice "petite mouche", Mark
May i ask what brand of thread you use, it looks like silk or do you wet/glue it after each stage, because it shines so nicely?

Thanks Johan the thread is Uni-Thread 6/0 not silk, it seems to flatten quite nicely on the hook so is good for slimmer bodies and quite strong.

Thanks fellas for the feedback, every little helps as they say.

Thanks Paul kind of you to say, the photo well kind of just happened when I accidentally dropped the fly into the gold wire and I thought it might look a bit interesting so I took the shot, I only have a small kodak digital camera (about £70 I paid for it) so its not to bad considering.
