Default Wickhams Fancy Wet Fly

Wickhams Fancy Tied Wet Fly Style Step By Step

Materials
Hook Wet fly, 8 - 16
Thread Black
Tail Brown Cock hackle fibres
Rib Gold wire/small oval
Body Gold tinsel
Hackle Furnace or Brown cock
Wings Mallard tied low and sedge like.

Place hook in the vice

Click the image to open in full size.
Run thread on to opposite barb and catch in tail.Run back up to eye to neaten up.

Click the image to open in full size.
Run thread back to tail catch in gold wire and then tinsel.

Click the image to open in full size.
Wind Gold tinsel to form body and catch off.

Click the image to open in full size.
Tie in cock hackle.

Click the image to open in full size.
Palmer down body and rib up. Tie in rib and break off excess wire and hackle.

Click the image to open in full size.
Take your thumbs and rub the hackle fibres on the top of the hook and lay the down flat.

Size up a wing and pinch and loop on.

Click the image to open in full size.
Trim excess wing.tidy up head and whip finish. Varnish head

Nice SBS, Well done Finished fly looks good
One point, If I may? I would do one less turn of body hackle to try and allow more of the gold body to show through.

I agree with seanie on hackle turns. Your photos are excellent though and your tying is very good! Well done with your first SBS!
