Default The leggy picric peter

This has to be one of my favourite patterns for September and October for the Loughs especailly Sheelin.

Hook no 10 meduim weight
Tying Silk black or brown
Rib Chartreusse utc wire
Butt red wool with red glister mixed in
Body Picric dyed charlie hair with orange glister mixed in
Body Hackle picric dyed furnace
Wing Picric dyed cock pheasant wing quill
Legs Claret dyed cock pheasant
Front hackle Picric dyed Furnace

secure in the chartreusse utc wire right up to the bend of the hook

tie in the red butt securely
Click the image to open in full size.
next blend in the picric dyed hair and bring it to around 1.5mm before the eye of the hook

wind in five turns of the furnace and rib four turns of the wire and secure

get a velcro brush and brush the hackles backwards to blend in the hackle and the dubbing

tie in the cock pheasant don,t be afraid to accentuate the wing

tie in a pair of the knotted legs each side of the wing
Click the image to open in full size.
lastly tie in the hackle and stroke back the hackle to streamline it then apply three coats of varnish,then fish away

Quality SBS Laurie, it would crtainly catch trout in this neck of the woods, thanks for that,
