Default For Duo Style

Have never tied many dries ( I'm a nymphist) but fancy having a bash at NZ duo style so had a try this morning and came up with these. Will they work ? any suggestions welcome. Thanks

Excellent ties mate. I like the fact you have used white foam. Means you can colour them different colours too suit different light conditions using markers.

Those will be ideal!

They'll definitely work. Foam post parahoppers like this one .... and this..

have been doing the business for years for me on still waters so I don't see why they can't work on rivers.

they will work fine try keeping the body as slim as you can i find bulky bodys tend to get waterlogged easy, nice tying for first few

Nice ties and I'm sure they'll work but I have a problem with the foam stems. Foam is quite heavy compared to the alternatives (parachute antron, aerowing etc.) and is only buoyant if it is in the water, in which case your hackle is pushed below the surface. It follows that the fly would float higher, carry more weight and fish better with less foam, not more.

I think the accepted way to make Klink/parachute patterns more buoyant is to add extra turns of stiff hackle. You can use a bit of foam as a post to wedge the hackle under, with an antron post on top. There's an SBS on here somewhere for the easy Klinkhamer that uses this method.
