Default Duck feathers. teal or widgeon ?

plucked a few feathers, and tied this not quite a dabbler. but looks the part.

Mallard flank surely? Teal and Wigeon are more black and white barred.

where did you pluck them from they could be egyption goose, gadwall flank or pintail..
it does look the part, im interested in some myself now.. you bad influence!
iv just placed a £180 order.. oh'well another order on the way

i would say there gadwall or widgeon looking.. but they could be teal??

Most likely teal, did the bird have metallic green secondary feathers on its wings ? Gadwall are usually less crisp & not as sharp looking. Egyptian goose are similar to bronze mallard but very soft in colour & texture. To dark for most widgeon I've encountered.

yes it did. about the same size as a mallard, some nice CDC as well.

Your fly looks great, the barring looks a bit light but I would bet on Gadwall. Cheaper and easier for me to get most of the time. thanks
