Default Dabblers.

Heres some dabblers I tied tonight. Which one do you thinks best?

This one I did with thread pushing the mallard round the hook

And this one tying in bunches of the bronze mallard round. Think the wings too long.

Thanks

First one looks better to me, but you better wait for the Irish boys to decide.

Right idea but the wing is way too long, 1/2 it would be about right
keep at it , you will get there

Wing colour too light, should be darker, but maybe it is the light!

colours are personal choices and will vary as per lough and water clarity,

bronze mallard is used to finish off your dabbler in what ever fashion one likes,

bronze mallard can be dyed and is by many anglers, claret and picric been 2 such popular shades,

Will catch fish on them no bother .

It is all about proportion though , Tail length should be total hook length as should the wing , measure the wing against the hook then when you set it back slightly into it's tying position it would come just a little past the bend of the hook (roughly ) . BUT that is just the standard "rule" you can vary things like that depending what you want to achieve ....
