Default Smelly Fly Tying Materials

My misses is threating to through my tying material out in the shed as it is a wee bit smelly when you open up the storage boxes and begin tying.

Anyone have a solution to smelly materials so I dont end up spending the winter tying season out in the shed. All my materials have been bought and treated.

Cheers

A couple of boxes of stuff a mate of my dads gave me where a bit smelly, put them out on the garage floor and put a fan over them and left the window got rid the most of the smell.

You could try neutradol or febreeeze but might add a water soluble scent to them which would be noticable to fish.

It's probably caused through either not being cleaned &/or treated properly after the animal was culled. If it's worth saving, wash in a mild detergent & rinse well.

Then air dry fully & finally microwave it for 5/10 secs in NEW bags. If that doesn't work they're not worth trying to save any more.

Get a pound of borax from your local hardware shop.
Take the smelly stuff, which, as arkle says is not fully treated.
Cover these materials in borax, check daily and in three or four days, job done.
Put the materials back in their sealed bags with a little borax.
I have no further problems with materials treated thus, no nasty smells; no bugs either

cheers,
Roy Christie

i agree with loopy, get rid of the wife or put her outside in the shed and see if she likes it why should we fellas always end up outside and in the gaden/shed, we didn't burn our bra's and what about all the smelly things they've got on the other hand, i have used the old moth balls, left them in for as long as u like, if she can stand that then go for itotherwise go Borax style
