Default Eden caddis emerger

Thought I'd share my Eden caddis emerger with you. It's loosely based on the balloon caddis, but I was looking for something with a slightly sparser, busier profile when view from beneath. I've been test driving this one for a while now and to my delight, it works a treat!

Hook: B100 #14,16
Thread: mallard brown sheer
Rib: twisted flat gold
Abdomen & thorax: natural hare or fox squirrel
Hackle: dun grizzle
Wingpost: yellow or white foam, folded forward in a loop and tied down like a thorax cover.

Buzz,
No the hook hasn't been bent. That would make it a revolutionary pattern, the likes of which have never been seen before

Interesting fly Matt, I have a feeling my local fish would slap it all day but i'll have to tie a couple. Presume the hackle is only tied in towards the eye?

The hackle is tied in para style using the foam as a wing post. Tie it in sparse and on the long side - more so than you would if you were tying a paradun or klink where the hackle is the sole medium of floatation. I'd imagine genetic hen neck would be permissible in this instance also.
The foam is then brought forward and tied down, but not pulled tight - loop it back a bit.....doesn't show up too well on the photo. The aim is for it to be out of sight when viewed from beneath, just a busy, leggy mess of an emerging sedge whilst maintaining a nicely slim abdomen profile.

The important things for me, besides the profile are that it floats reliably and is easily visible in the near darkness when it comes into its own.
