I have been finding the coloured butt improved catch rates for me lately.

I use a bright orange seals fur for the butt.
Olive crystal dubbing for the body usually ribed with either mylar, wire or tinsel to increase the the lifespan of the fly.
Black/Red crystal dubbing at the thorax or peacock herl.
Grizzle or furnace hackle

Higher catch rate than without the hotspot butt.

Welcome Back Matt! Where you been hiding, and what's with the change of name?

Re - @rse end... I was thinking along similar lines aswell to be honest... if it's an egg layer, what's the deal with the stuck shuck?

i did wonder as its a good tye.. but all i can make of it having a tail is to cause more disturbance, when caddis lay there eggs im sure they land on the water with there A*** IN the water rather than on it. so a caddis
wing would be an obvious target point aswell, surely!
it looks more like an egg laying Dun than anything else..

Maybe the shuck represents the nymph breaking its water before laying :P

I tied this so it would sit underneath the surface more than what an adult tied version would.

So the fly does everything I want it to do and if you look closely when caddis lay eggs, some of them can get stuck in the surface film so the shuck can mean alot of things.

I wouldn't post it if it doesn't work and if you dont try it then you'll never know!

scratch: I couldn't log into my old account, the whole improvement process on the forum is to blame!
