Default Makes great dubbing very cheaply ?

I,m new to tying so forgive me if this is a common method. To make dubbing out of wool get some velcro strips, "the furry side is not needed" what i done was stick two srips of the non furry side to a piece of plastic, fold it so that one piece sits over the other, then you can use it to catch wool in and pull it through untill you have what,s required then peel it out and use it as dubbing ? Hope this makes sense, if anyone can forsee any problems with this please let me know.

Yeh i realise that but the velcro thingy takes a length of wool of the ball and turns it into dubbing it is also good for mixing diferent colours. Thanks regards Alan

Haven't seen this idea before, sounds good, only downside is that it would be difficult to replicate a mix though not impossible to get reasonably close.

Sounds a good method to do a quick bit of dubbing, thanks for sharing.

Nice idea with the squeeze between idea. I had just been using a little velcro brush I made. I find also that acrylic wools work well for dry flys.

You'll probably find something in B&M bob.

Yup MrT they have a load of cheap wool at the mo. Also think the little silcon mats for hot pans etc would be ideal for mounting the velcro and with creative scissor use then a few burshes for different dubbing mixes to avoid accidental mixes of colours can be made.

Watch you don't get any 'nasties' in your fly tying gear emerger1981. A few seconds in the microwave first?

Scooby, nice idea. If it works it works!
Now I am envisioning those Velcro hooks on gloves and sending the kids out to pet the furry lil critters

Most wool you buy is made of acrylic, nylon and polyester or a mixture of them also you can get 50m balls of chenile for £1-3. Wool shops have always got a bargain basket well worth a look.
regards Alan
