Default Wet/pulling hoppers

I knocked these hoppers together with the intention of fishing them as pulled wets tomorrow. Anyone got any thoughts on the use of hoppers on intermediate to medium sinking lines?

Nice tyes Matt.

Coincidentally I have been tying a few today following the recent article in FF&FT and have braved the pink!

The article from memory had some advice on sinking line work if you haven't seen it already.

Thanks a lot! And yours sir - see you've been doing a bit with Professor Carstairs - a true gent and fine angler. Missed out on sharing a boat with him this year, which I regret.

Professor Carstairs is an outstanding angler and a top man as you know - I have been honoured.

Thank you for your kind words.

Hope to catch up with you sometime.

There's no real advice Matt, basically you'd fish them as pulling flies subsurface.

Fish them as dries first.... until line pulls them under.

I'd feel more confident with your second tying mate..... claret hoppers are a favorite and black's good also.

Mostly you would tend to lean to one on the middle dropper, booby on point, nymph on top kind of rig mate.......... or one on top + one on middle........ something garish on point.

Twiddle em, pull em, stoke em......... whatever one get's em working...., they do well in tough conditions.......... melvin octopus is a belter on sinkers......
