Default Help to ID a material.

I hope words will work as I don't have batteries for my cam at the mo.

Got a few hair patches in a starter pack way when I started a few months ago and have since lost the details.

I.D'd the hare and deer but left with what I though was elk but having bought an elk patch I was wrong.

It's about 3" white hair. Slight wave in it and very flat compared to deer or elk.

Thanks,
Bob

If it is on the stiff side it could be buck tail, calf would be shorter. Angora would be softer, polar bear ... hard to tell if you can't see it.

Thanks. Definatly not polar bear It's from a cheap pack.

Looks very much like it might be calf tail or buck tail. It's quie fine and stiff.

Calf tail, isn't on a patch but is like squirrel - on a slim strip of skin often complete with bone. The hair is fine stiff-ish & slightly crinkly as well as being very densely packed together. It averages about 1" to 2" long at the tip of the tail. From your description I would think it's more likely to be an off-cut of bucktail.
