Do a search on buzzer for this forum you will find plenty. Go to youTube search for Davie McPhail and search his site for buzzer, he has plenty. The other UK Fly forum has a long list of SBS for buzzers.... simples!

The thorax is simply built up using the tying thread on simple buzzers, but you can experiment with any variety you like, i.e. peacock herl thorax. It's personal preference to put cheeks on, using goose biot, flashabou, bits of crisp packet. Again, just play around with it. As for patterns, bloodworm using red thread with silver wire rib, black buzzer using black thread and silver wire rib, the list is endless really. Have a search on here using the search facility with buzzer as your keyword, should come up with plenty of patterns for you to try.

I tend to go for size 12 and 14, but again, that's just personal preference.

Agreed, as a beginner you'd be best tying on 12s - anything smaller might make things more difficult.
