Default 10 flies from this weekend

Here is 10 flies I tied this weekend went through 2 boxes of Kamasan hooks and 1 half bag and fulling mill so I reckon I tied about 70 flies. We where down at my grannies caravan and it was really bad so I had been prepared and a small box of fly tying material in the boot of my dads car and some hooks I had bought on the way kept me going.

Now on to the flies.

Keep it going RC. Even with the best advice in the world, the only way to improve is lots and lots of tying... which you seem to be doing I'm sure you can identify any faults yourself, and with practice, eliminate them.

For the 'Black & Peacock' buzzer, try a finer rib, silver wire maybe. The oval rib is oversized, and looks a little out of proportion.

What's the thinking with the buzzers at the bottom, tied 'short'.... but back to front?

Scratch I wanted to tie some really small buzzers about size 18 or 20 after watching a guy make great use of sucxh small flies at a fishery I was at but the small hooks I had were too fine wire and I seen this UKFlyDressing - Tying Short or Demi Nymph and decided to use a size 16 wet fly hook and tied round the bend to add the curve to the body of the buzzer. Although I think I should use finer tying thread as the whip finishes on them are making a bulge which I think ruins the taper of the fly body.

Thanks
AL

That's actually quite interesting - I've never seen that before. The question remains - what do the fish think of the hook shank sticking out of the fly's head? Do they even see it? If you start to reel the fish in, your flies are effective. You should let us know if you're successful with them!

You shouldn't beat yourself up about the larger heads, it must be difficult finishing when you have no hook eye to work to.

Try tying them short, from the eye of the hook, halfway down the shank, buzzers straighten out when they are swimming
