Thumbs up Blob chenille for Yellowfish Pattern!

Hi Guys

Im new on the forum. Im for South Africa and a really keen Fly Fisherman. Hope to learn some new things here on the forum.

Before i start, I have used the search function before posting this thread but i couldnt find what i was looking for.
I know you guys have probably been asked this question a million time but which brand of Blob chenille is the best. I have bought some of the Lureflash Fritz Chenille from ebay. Will it work for Blobs? The reason im looking for this material is that i want to tie up some patterns for our local Largemouth yellowfish that are similar to the blob. This is the material im looking for http://www.flyforums.co.uk/trade-cla...lob-fritz.html Chenille that is mat and not flashy. Can someone help me with an online shop that would be able to post internationally to South Africa.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanx

Regards Eddie

Hi Eddie & welcome along.

Like everything else, "There's only one hard & fast rule" & that's "There are no hard & fast rules" I'm afraid it's one man's poison is another's bacon sandwich, so it may well be a matter of trying various options to see which suit's your needs best.

I must admit I'm not a user of this type of material so am probably the worst person to ask esp. for your circs. Posting materials of this nature, i.e. man-made fibre, shouldn't be much of a problem as many suppliers here do a worldwide postal service & many for a standard price lakeland & deercreek are the first ones that come to mind & doubtless there are many more, who if they don't quote in their standard advert will do you a quotation for 1 off's.

Send Sam (Flyfishing-UK) a p.m and see if he'll post it out or try Dave Downie at 15mm Translucent Chenille 20T Blob Materials

I found this website call cetic flycraft. They sell the vampire plush chenille. Is this a good product. Is it similar to the one that Dave Downie sells?

Celtic's product is excellent and I use it in some colours.

Dave's materials are a little more specialist ie the colour he gets in the FU fritz is different to anything else and I use that too. His marabou is without doubt the best quality you can get.
