Default Cormorant variant

What wing style is prefered in this pattern?
The very tips of the marabou plume,

or the usual fluff from the middle of the quill,

What is your prefered choice, or doesn't it matter a jot!

Personally, I'm a tip of the feather fan.....

But from what I can see, you have 'selected' tips from ther feather, I would go for 50% of the tip, or the whole lot, run the feather through your fingers, and the tips line up, not perfectly mind, but, natural looking.

This is 50% of one of Dave Downies Feather Tips.

Everyone will be different mate, but I like 'em like this.

Nice pattern mind! Ta for sharing!

I like to tie mine with a mix of colours in the wing, normally a pinch of the fluffy stuff from a few different feathers all jumbled up.

If I am feeling really rebellious I add a little tiny marabou tail as well, makes a really good damsel pattern over weedbeds.

I'd stick to the skinny ones myself, If you want them to fish as cormorants and not as mini lures. Of the ones you show I'd prefer the second fly, its not as neat but for me has more action.
I've found over the last few years that a skinny cormorant fished very slowly on a slow intermediate or slow sinker will outfish a more heavily dressed version 4 times out of 5. The only time I use the heavy winged ones is if I am pulling a washing line as the smaller wings tends to fold up and disappear (thats a guess as I cant really see whats happening)
There obviously must be a crossover point where they stop being Cormorants and start being a mini lure but the original pattern was dressed very sparsely
I tie three versions, The original, with Peacock body and black wing, A pearl bodied one with JC cheeks and a pearl bodies one with a natural grey wing and JC cheeks. The last one works well when the fish are on pin fry especially if you can cast it inot a shoal of fry and let it sink naturally.

Cheers

Cheers Chris, take your point with the faster fished patterns.
