It just so happens Dave I very luckily found a dead red squirrel the other day, well not lucky for the squirrel you understand.
Anyway, it had been dead for a day or two, so I just had the tail off it, the rest was a bit far gone.
So if I can find some cape feathers to match those, I might just have a go at that.
Very pretty creation.

as mrtrout just posted...'red squirrel'..is that the squirrel and or 'pine squirrel' used quite a lot over the pond for you boys?

well Sir..that is a very impressive 'red squirrel', however..this is what mine looks like over here in Canada..and you can see it is totally different, now if you get another one...maybe we can swap?...lol

This was very much the grey squirrel!

... and yes, the red is endangered - and limited to just a few pine forests now.

The thorax is the fur from the body - short, spikey fibres. The tails can be excellent for wings on sea-trout flies and for tails on nymphs.

Steven: I hope the caddis does you OK. I expect a written review
