Default pearly invictas

Hi All,i have been tying some pearly invictas,but i am unhappy with the finished colour of the body.The way i have done it is this,i have run on two lairs of black thread,then two lairs of clear pearl mylar,is this the correct method,i would be gratefull for any advice many thanks Duncan

Nothing much wrong with the method.. The look of the finished body though is altered in quite a subtle but very noticable way, depending on the colour of the thread base. Try white thread if you're not happy with it over black.

used to have the same trouble myself but as Scratch has said try a different coulor thread..

the colour of thread used dictates the colour of the finished fly,, i would use Red,Primrose,and a few Olive shades of thread myself depending on the colour of body im after,,the more layers of Pearl Mylar used also has an effect on the body colour so try a few with just one layer,,you can also stretch the maylar before wrapping it around the shank and this also affects the colour but be careful not to stretch it too much if you want to avoid it breaking..

Pearl Mylar on a bare hook has a nice effect too.
