Post What Braid For Snake Flies

I want to tie snake flies up but i don't know what braid to use for this i recently bought 50 lbs braid, but it is not hollow and i can't get a needle through it!
Should i be looking for normal 20 or 30 lbs backing which is hollow?
Also what size of mylar should i use on the bodies?
Thanks Robert

Hi Robert,

I think it is the 20lb and if it is i have a spool that i have no use for and you can have it mate.

As for the Mylar you could be looking at the med.

There are some that can give you better advice but the braid is yours if you want it.

Tony............

BBTF, yes you are looking for monofilament braid, used for fly line backing, the same stuff as leader loops are made of.
Breaking strain like everything else in fishing seems to be personal choice.

I use 20lb and 30lb and seem to get on fine with that. 50lb is recommended by others.

Medium or large mylar should be fine.
