Default What is your favorite style of Caddis fly...

I personally have a few, however, I do have one that I call my "go to" style, and don't mind sharing.........would be interested in what you 'go to' first....AW

I like G and H sedges not because I have caught fish on them but because I have got plenty of rises to them but my inexperiance lead me to miss takes or strike to early or late.

I found the G+H sedge could have some hook up issues , great fly though , good in a wave . If you tie you own make sure that you don't over do it with the dubbing loop under the fly and clip the hair well , what I am saying is don't crowd the gape of the hook .

IMHO you will get missed takes when sedge fishing as the takes are often very splashy .

The patten working well for me at the moment is the Teabag Sedge

I prefer the traditional approach,A couple from my Sedge box

Mottled Sedge

though this wee Clyde Style fly can be good as a tail fly behing the more buoyant dry

The Stank Hen

Hans Weilenmann's CDC & Elk is one of the best of the "modern" flies though.

Tight Lines

CDC and elk for me. Simple to tie, floats well.

If underwater, I like a green rock worm with a black bead head. Again, simple to tie, fishes well.

Thanks
Rick
