Default What the best way to add weight to small okay dokeys and buzzers?

I was tying some small okay dokeys (sizes 14, 16, 18) and was wondering what would be the best wayto weight them down as putting lead wire wraps on them adds an unsightly bulge to them.

Thanks will maybe post some photos once I get a photobucket account going and get camera out.
Al

Try a bead head, lead or tungstin or maybe a couple wraps of sticky back lead foil? I also go a heavier hook sometime TMC 2488H. Does Kamason 175 go that small?

If the above suggestions are still too bulky then I am afraid all you're really left with is fine copper wire.

Use a heavier hook.

If you want weight without the bulges then a heavier hook is the only real option.

I have tied some heavy buzzers using carp hooks in sizes 12 and 14, the Fox hooks are very good for this as they are extremely heavy and have a lovely cruve

Default I'm being stupid

All I have to do is put some lead split shot on to the line and I would get a similar effect wouldn't I?

Okey Dokeys are just an unsightly bulge in the first place, with or without the lead wire.

If you must use them, and still seek extra weight, then start with a heavier hook, use lots of turns of the finest copper wire you can find, and keep varnishing your thread and wire wraps as you go along... it all adds up.

If you want some very fine lead foil, as used in dental x-rays, send me a stamped s.a.e. & I'll send you some f.o.c. This offer's open to anyone here by the way.

It's probably okay down to 16's dependant on the gape etc. It's not to difficult to make it even thinner with a hard wallpaper seam roller & smooth solid base such as a kitchen worktop.

Yep, a small tin shot above the hook would help. Make it far enough up so that the fly still moves naturally. The only okee dookee I have seen has a big coloured knot for a head... hide your weight under that. Best of luck.
