Default Aero Dry Wing & Floatant?

Does applying floatant to Aero Dry Wing negatively affect its bouyancy?

I would think not, if its bouyancy is a function of its internal hollowness, but perhaps that's not correct.

I did a couple of short term experiments and it didn't seem to affect it (providing the floatant didn't cause the fibers to mat together).

Any insights on this?

Cheers,

bgooch,

You can apply floatant to aero dry wing - as long as you do not flood it - use something like Dilly Wax that has been formulated for use with ployprop yarns. Gink will also work...

Just a tiny amount and "dab" it on top of the wing post.

Kind regards

I find that poly-yarns are extremely buoyant if a little gink is applied. I now use them to make my suspender buzzers and emergers as they're a little hardier than the usual CDC wings.

I use both Aero wing and Poly yarns. When both are ginked they are equal. Pull them under, they both pop up again! Only difference is the is the massive difference in price! Ignore the "professional" recommendations. IMHO the narrowness of Aero fibres almost negates the hollow factor, so YES Gink it!

£7 plus for a card of "quality" material, of unstated length, and with a kink every 2 inches.....Yeuk!" Those with vested interest will probably, (and possibly have to) disagree.
