Colonel Freeman's Fancy

Hi All,

A while I go, I did a thread on flies for sea trout in Lough Currane and mentioned how good the Colonel freeman's fancy was.I had a lot of Pm's asking for the pattern and never got around to it.So here it is.
It's a very old pattern,(not mine) which I have been using for years, but can't find any history on it, but sure smart ars........... sorry.... person will know on here.


Pattern:

Tail:Red game hackle
body:silver tinsel variant photo (Holographic siver)
Rib:silver wire
hackle:Red game
Wings:Blue Jay wing tips paired and winged

Nice looking fly that. A mix of the jay wing from a Colonel Downman's Fancy and a tinsel body like on the Freeman's Fancy? Looks like both and neither. Is that smart ars... enough for you Sam. Sorry mate, couldn't resist.

He's there!! Rise, hooked & landed!! I just knew I would get a bite, if i threw that one out there, but didn't think it would be that quick!!!! and what a whopper!!!
Will practise catch and release though!!
