Default A paired slip Peter ??

Not sure what this is to be honest I sat down to do a few Peter variants and when I got the the winging on this one I thought the slips looked nice and as I hadn't tried this style of winging before I thought I best have a go . I know the wings don't last 2 mins on these but had a go away ...

Not even sure if I like the fly ?? Will stick it in the box and it might get a swim at some point ..

I like the look of it Danny, but try as I might,I canny catch anything on a Peter where I fish....in fact,I would put money on grass green bodies being the least used colour for a fly in Scotland. Our sedges are a different colour, usually cinnamon, buff or chocolate brown.

Cheers ,

Strange they don't work for you Over here we have sedges in all sizes and colours . The Green Peter Fly and its many variants work well here all year long , from March right through to October when the season ends ..
Is my No. 1 wet fly in all it's forms and variants from now on when we have the little brown sedges coming off , they look nothing like a Green Peter but it hammers fish for me , even over sized in a 10 when the sedge is more like a 12 for the female and a 14 for the male ..

I like it Danny.
That's funny WJ I use the green peter a lot and find it a good catcher on Scottish Lochs.

I fail to see why. If paired wings are tied in correctly there is no reason why they should not last than any winging method. I have tied lots of sedges with paired wings including this one using same Hen Pheasant wing feathers & have had no problems.

To be honest guys it might be more to do with me having other default patterns in mind when I see sedges around rather than the GP.I probably just don't fish it enough.....Any time I do give it a swim though, the results are far from encouraging.....

Looks the part, that one

I always use paired slips on my Peters' but use four slips, which is how I was shown by the midland guys many years ago. Also, they tied the wings flat and low on top of the body, almost obscuring it - I think they call it 'boat-wing style' in Westmeath

Nice one Danny. Don't worry mate, the wings will be fine. If you're really that bothered a quick steam over a kettle and a bit of stroking will sort them out after a mauling but I don't think it matters that much. If they want it, they want it.

The one thing I do take care of is to position my winged flies in the box in a place where the wings won't get crushed in storage. That has a much greater effect on the the wing than a tussle with teeth.
