Default Pedestal Vice

Im looking for a reasonably priced pedestal vice, when I say reasonable I mean the cheaper the better but half decent quality, any recommendations?

This looks good for the money?

The height of the pedastal vice on ebay is a real issue. I have a number of students in my class who tie with pedastal vices and they all complain that they struggle with the gap between the jaws and the baseplate.
For me you need at least 12" of clearance to be able to tie with comfort and ease.

It is worth noting that the Waldron vice comes with a 3" extension for using with the pedastal making a total clearance of over 16 inches.

I always liked the Regal for that reason as well as the Dynaking series but if price is an issue then compromise is probably the only way forwards. Look at the Weaver "Scottie" and Weaver Wheel vice, Not dirt cheap but realtively inexpensive and they served me well during my apprenticeship.

Regards
