Default Sedge/caddis

As darkness drew in last night we had a swarm of sedges on the beat i was fishing, they were dark and mottled, nothing i had in the box suited but then remembered i had a gravel bed in my spiders box

it was great but not very durable..

all of the sedges i have tied were a paler elk hair.. so i hit the vice tonight and came up with this

nice martin... for me to get over situations like that i carry some indelable pens with me mainly black, dark brown ,olive etc take no room up in a pocket and you can alter the fly in seconds

Looks really great!
How did you make the wing, and what dubbing is the body. It looks rough, which i like a lot!

the wing is a hen saddle feather that had been laminated onto Teabag paper with hard as nails, when dry , fold along the quill and cut out.. the dubbing is a mix of seals furs
