Default At last someone who knows about service - Atkensangling

In a former life (or even now from time to time) I consulted to businesses about how they should align their offerings to what the customer wants. In other words define quite clearly what the experience will be when a customer does business with them and then try and exceed it.

I have found this to be quite rare in the tackle industry. Some get close, but few exceed it.

Yesterday, I wanted to purchase 3 Tiemco bobbin holders. I Googled the product and came up with all the known places here in the UK. But sitting in amongst them was 'Atkinsangling' and they were offering a 30% discount. Now this was exactly what I was looking for. I ordered them and within 2 hours I had a note back saying they had been despatched. Service exceeded? No, just what I expected.

While doing the order, I noticed that they also sold Kamasan hooks. Now I was in the market for a bulk order of Kamasan hook but I wanted the B525 for tying spiders (there is a reason for this but that is another story) and this was hook not listed. Only 'fly hooks' were listed and the B525 is classified as a course angling hook.

Now, up to that point I had searched and located quite a few tackle shops selling B525 hooks and I had made contact with 15 of them via their email link. Over a 10 day period (ample time to respond) I have not received any reply. Is this service? No, it is b....y rude so tackle shops take note - not a happy POTENTIAL customer

So I emailed Aitkens Angling and asked them if they would be interested in giving me a quote. remember, they did not stock Course angling hooks. Still it was a long shot.

To my amazement, I received a return e-mail within 1 hour to say they would be interested and quoted me a price that was exceptionally cheap and within 90 minutes the sale had been completed.

Now is that service? YES and it exceeded my expectations.

So John, well done mate and I hope that this thread gets you a few sales because you deserve it by going that little extra distance.

Good to hear you had good service but I was messed around for weeks by them last year and they regularly crop up here as giving appalling service - I won't be using them again.

Well, maybe they have learnt from that and there is always two sides to any story. I can only relate what I experienced and I use a lot of dealers. I am not sure many are any better.
You opinion and you are right to voice it.

Good to hear you got good service but looking at previous threads many do not seem to have had from this company.
What I have read has certainly put me off giving them a go. Plenty more out there that strive to give a good service & even they can let one down on occasion.
Problem now with mail order companies is.
Let someone down & we all hear about it, just the nature of the beast with internet access.

I ordered from Atkins angling last february and to date I have only received part of my order. Having emailed them on several occasions I'm told that the product is still out of stock and they are still waiting on it to come in. to give them some credit they answered all of my emails but it was me who sent the first ones. I would think they should at least give an update now and again and not for me to be doing all the chasing.

I ordered and paid for a pair of Simms G4 Boots in April and still haven't received them. Then they have the audacity to e-mail me with a sale notice which includes G4 boots.
Service is appalling.

Remember me saying this earlier on? Well I have spoken to them about the comments on here so the following may be interesting:
- my order arrived today, so I did get it as expected
- the company has been sold and there are new owners now and they are very aware of the bad reputation that preceded them taking over and are working hard to rectify things.
- my other order is being processed through Kamasan.
I can't knock it I am afraid.
