Default Decent vice for under £50

Looking to upgrade my vice and saw the below on Ebay, which looks alright. Are these any good, or should I look at something like the Snowbee Flymate, as was mentioned on a previous thread. I have been keeping an eye on this sight and Ebay, but not seen anything yet. Your views would be appreciated

'Acclaim' Fly Tying Vice with Pedestal Base by Caimore on eBay (end time 11-Jul-10 16:57:41 BST)

the vice shown 2 above is actually a regent rotatable vice and i own one and would highly recomend it for tying of anything up to a size 20 (well thats as low as ive went for it) i have the one with the g-clamp. I would go for the one you have looked at.

Yes the Acclaim vice appears to be a Regent Rotatable vice.
I have used one for years. Go for it!

Before you buy anything, take a good look at the Weaver vices. If you use the search box above you should find posts on them easily enough. Superb build quality with decent materials at surprisingly good prices.

Here's one I bought just recently - ROTATABLE REGENT FLY TYING VICE, BRAND NEW, FREE P & P on eBay (end time 24-Jun-10 21:21:45 BST) - after using an old Veniard vice for the last 20 years or so. It has an excellent grip and can be rotated easily and is also cheaper as the P&P is included in the price. It can also be used in the platform base of the old Veniard one if you prefer that to a clamp. (Oh and I ordered it on a Saturday and got it the following Tuesday)

I bought one recently after looking at all sorts of two to three hundred pounds vices but I am delighted with it. I have the pedestal base and it s perfect for tying patterns all the way down to about size 20.
It is a well built solid copy of the regent vice which is a classic.

tThe vice in the link in opening post is as most have said a regent copy. I have had one for a few years now and still going strong. I now use it occasionaly as I have just upgraded to the SnNowbee Flymate without the ball joint head, which cost me £40.

I would go along with everyone else and get it at that price. If I was starting out it is the vice I would go for.
