Default Floating Fry

Hi All,
Does Anyone use the floating fry for Rainbows?
I'm hoping to tye up a few as I've seen a few lads doing well on them.
Don't fancy attempting the Deer hair and marker pen jobs.I was hoping You lot will help out with an easier way to tye them.
Thanks in advance and tightlines Kev.

Me, I tend to use one on the far end of a washing line. White foam back and tail, mylar tube body and red throat hackle. The deer hair/marker pen jobs aren't that hard to tie, just take ages and are a real pain in the @rse!

If you're going to fish a large fly, then deer hair is a better way to go, Why? because a 3 inch long piece of foam twists like a propellor. The deer hair versions do not twist the line as much.

That said, I really like the new foam ones that Fulling Mill are doing, with foam coated in Mylar, I've not tried tying them yet nor casting them but they are much more streamlined than some of the older versions and hopefully will cast better.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies lads.
Will take a look at the Fulling Mill foam and Mylar fry, and I'll atempt to post a picture for articwolf.
Will also try the fry on the end of a washing line.
Cheers Kev.

A bit of white fritz with foam over the top and V cut for tail ...simples.

A great pattern - so versatile. And I caught my first legal trout on one!
