Default Beginers five

All,
I do a little tying of my own, mainly lures (because they are easy), but need to get into it more, as without doubt it is far more satisfying catching on your own tied flies. So on that basis can you please direct me to five flies to be used on still water, that are not too difficult to tie, and will catch me fish. I want to stop buying and start tying.

Please help

Tony

Have a look at all the step by steps pick out other flies you'll use and give them a go.

Hi Tony, please take a look at these tutorials. Although for for the river, you'll find the following highly effective on lakes:

River Fly Box, Tying spiders and Soft Hackles

River Fly Box, tying the GRHE Nymph, gold rib hare's ear

River Fly Box, Tying the Pheasant Tail Nymph

Hope they help you

Not sure if you want to try something else or stick with lures. If you want to venture out with your tying then lots of nymph type bugs are easy to tie.
Pheasent Tail Nymph, Diawl Bach and Gold Ribbed Hares Ear for example and all catch fish. Also there are many varients of each so you could experiment.

Ah just posted this to see the above...oh well at least I got it right for a change.

You could also add a black and peacock spider and perhaps a black pennell
