If you want the best it has to be a LAW vice. It is well documented that this one is regarded as "the best". Now having said that there are many others that are every bit as good......... at what?
Holding a hook securely whilst we humans try to create a bit of magic with a bit of wool tinsel & feather. So scroll on & take your pick of the many models out there with prices to suit all pockets.
Tight Lines

I think most people would agree that Dyna-King are pretty good too and I love my Dyna-King Professional.

Excellent hook holding.
Beautifully engineered.
Easy to set up and use.
4 Locking positions for the head.
Silky smooth rotation of the subject.. many folks use them for rotary tying even though they aren't rotary vices.

I prefer traditional tying to rotary and it suits me down to the ground.

I'm very happy with my HMH vice - top quality American product and very reasonable price £100

I've seen the LAW vice and it is a beautiful bit of kit - but step back for a minute - isn't £400 for a hook-holder a trifle excessive?

Nope

Cheap as chips at that price!

The last one I saw on ebay went for over £600.

Had a D/K Pro for many years, & have tried virtually all the other "top name" vices. Got no reason to want to swap or "upgrade" to a more expensive vice. Nigel at Lakeland uses the same vice as well.

I have the C&F Ultimate Reference Vice and I'm very impressed with it.
